HIT-UP

A social app for the beginning student.
Students who are looking for a new application that will meet their academic needs, that will help them navigate the college and enjoy its resources.

Driven by the desire to empower incoming students and enhance their learning experience, I embarked on a mission to develop a comprehensive student app for colleges. Through extensive research and surveys, I delved into the needs and challenges faced by freshmen, exploring existing app features and identifying gaps in the current offerings. This in-depth analysis paved the way for the creation of a groundbreaking app that seamlessly integrates with the college experience, providing students with the tools and resources they need to thrive from day one.

The problem:
Many new students encounter various difficulties at the start of their academic journey. They have trouble navigating the campus, understanding their timetable and finding centralized information about events and exams that are accessible from anywhere.

The solution:

I developed a dedicated social application for new students, designed to meet all their needs in one place that is available and accessible from anywhere. The application includes events, tests and a variety of functions, such as an interface to the personal calendar and a parking map around the college.

Calendar screens

None of us wants to miss an important event or exam. To address this issue, I came up with a feature that would allow the college's event and announcement calendar to be integrated with each student's personal calendar. As a result, each student would have control over and the ability to add events, announcements, or exams from the college app to their personal calendar on their mobile device.

Parking map screens

We are all familiar with the parking woes surrounding the college. However, if we pay close attention, we'll notice that there are parking spots in hidden areas that no one seems to know about. To address this issue, I have developed the Smart Parking Locator System. This system allows students to locate available parking spaces around the college in real-time, taking into account occupancy levels and their location.

Usability Testing

To ensure that the application effectively addressed the needs of the target audience, a usability test was conducted with 18 students from Holon Institute of Technology. Participants were asked to complete a series of tasks while thinking aloud. Key findings from the usability test were used to identify areas for improvement and iterate on the design.
